Simple Terms: Download the plain-English Word template. Input. Done.
Pick a template, download the Word document and get going. No app, no set-up, no sales calls.
Why Simple Terms?
Most document services come with bundled software, an app, a demo and a sales team. Then you have to integrate it, or change your whole system. There is also an ever-increasing monthly fee, and often you are tied to a legal advice service you don't use.
Simple Terms is none of that. You get a well-drafted, plain-English Word document that you can understand, insert your work details into and use straight away. All the documents are very short. Contracts do not need to be long or detailed. These documents were written by specialist lawyers, but none of them are trying to bill you for more work.
How it works
- Find your template.
- Join or log in, and download the Word document.
- Read the template and fill in the details. There are guide notes if you need them.
- Send it, sign it, get on with your work.
What's in each template?
An editable Word document for use in Australia (New Zealand and more coming), plain-English clauses, and a clause guide explaining the key clauses and what to think about before you change them.
Are the templates kept up to date?
Yes. We review the templates regularly as the law and market practice change. When we update a template, you can download the new version.
Is this legal advice?
No. Simple Terms provides information and templates, not legal advice. Legal advice is about your specific situation, and we don't know that. If your situation is unusual or high-value, talk to a lawyer.
You know your business and what you would agree to. These templates are a starting point that can save you time and money.
Can I use AI?
It's risky, so no. You can get yourself into trouble by getting AI to write or negotiate your contract. What seems like "legal advice" from AI is not legal advice, and it is not protected. Even AI will tell you it is not legal advice.
These templates were written by expert lawyers. Like Googling a question, you can ask AI about things you don't understand, but it isn't a substitute for legal advice. Never put a signed contract, or a contract with confidential information, into AI. You may be breaching your confidentiality obligations.
